The Dolgoprudnensky City Court of the Moscow Region began considering the criminal case of Alexei Malyarevsky, who was charged with the underground activities of Navalny’s Headquarters. The SOVA Research Center drew attention to this.
The case was submitted to the court on February 22, and on March 5 the consideration of the case on its merits began.
Malyarevskywas sent to a pre-trial detention center on October 20 last year. The man is accused of participating in the activities of an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and financing extremism (Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code). Previously, he was charged with participation in the activities of an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), but later the case was reclassified.
“Mediazona,” citing a source familiar with the case, said that Malyarovsky “is charged with participation in Navalny’s Headquarters.” According to investigators, he hung out some leaflets in Moscow. A friend of the defendant told the publication that he was interested in politics, but did not actively participate in it.
A month and a half before his arrest, Malyarevsky went to Manezhnaya Square with a poster “Freedom for Navalny, freedom for political prisoners.” Hewas detained , but was soon released without a protocol.
- On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations. An appeals court later upheld this decision.
- Muscovites Ivan Trofimov and Alina Olekhnovich, Udmurtia resident Artemy Perevozchikov, Mikhail Sharygin from Nizhny Novgorod and Sergei Strekev from Rybinsk are also accused of participating in Navalny’s “underground headquarters.” The latter was sentenced to three and a half years in prison because of graffiti in support of FBK and Navalny. Memorial recognized the defendants in these cases as political prisoners. The former coordinator of Navalny’s Lipetsk headquarters, Ilya Danilov, was put on the wanted list and arrested in absentia.
