The American companies Microsoft and Amazon will close access to their cloud products to Russian companies from March 20, 2024. This was reported by the Russian company Softline, which received relevant notifications. A RBC source in the IT market confirmed to RBC that its customer had received such a letter from Microsoft.
Softline said that the company’s decision was explained by the 12th package of EU sanctions dated December 19, 2023, according to which “restrictions are introduced on the supply of various types of software to Russia.”
“According to information we have received from copyright holders, on March 20, 2024, Microsoft and Amazon will suspend access to cloud products such as (including but not limited to): Power BI, Dynamics CRM and others. We expect that the suspension will also affect cloud solutions containing these products. This means that from this date you will not be able to use these products or access the data contained in them,” the message says.
Softline Vice President for Investments Elena Volotovskaya published a letter from Microsoft.
“As you may be aware, the European Union recently introduced new economic sanctions that, effective March 20, 2024, prohibit Microsoft from supplying certain management or design software (including cloud solutions) to organizations registered in Russia,” the letter reads. .
RBC's interlocutor in the IT market said that a large number of companies in the commercial sector continued to use Microsoft products. “One of my customer acquaintances mentioned that a week ago he met with Microsoft representatives, and they gave guarantees that they would not turn off anything. The purchase schemes were different, but they cannot be disclosed publicly,” he said.
