The founder of the Left Resistance, Darya Polyudova, who was sentenced to nine years, was transported to an unknown location. This was reported by Open Space.
The activist's lawyer was supposed to visit her today in IK-4 Kabardino-Balkaria, but learned that she had been transferred to another institution. He was not informed when and where she had been transferred; the lawyer plans to send a request to the Federal Penitentiary Service.
In December 2022, Polyudova was sentenced andfound guilty of creating an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and two counts of justifying terrorism on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). In April 2023, the sentence - 9 years in a general regime penal colony - was approved . The activist was transferred from the Moscow pre-trial detention center to a penal colony in Kabardino-Balkaria in the summer of this year.
According to the security forces, Polyudova created the "Left Resistance" for "public justification of terrorism and public calls for extremist activity." The investigation considers the activities of the extremist community to include pickets and publications on social networks.
The posts that became the reason for the persecution talked about the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea and pickets in support of Crimean Tatar activists involved in cases of involvement with Hizb ut-Tahrir; one of them was titled “Execute the traitor Putler for treason!”
The sentence took into account Polyudova's previous sentence, which was handed down in May 2021 — 6 years in prison. At that time, she was found guilty on two counts: for a repost on VKontakte (justification of terrorism on the Internet — Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code), and also for statements about the shooting on Lubyanka in 2019 (calls for extremist activity — Part 1 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code). The activist has been in prison since January 2020.
In August 2023, it became known that Polyudova had been transferred to strict conditions of detention. After that, the activist did not contact her loved ones for almost six months. In January, she was transferred to a punishment cell (SHIZO), citing cell renovations. The activist also said that she was beaten by a cellmate for criticizing Putin.
On April 2, Darya Polyudova was transferred to Pretrial Detention Center No. 1 in Volgograd. This was reported by Kavkaz.Realii.
The convicted woman's mother asked local residents to help her order food and essential goods for her daughter. She told the publication "Kavkazsky Uzel" about this.
On May 23, Darya Polyudova was taken to IK-8 in Kostroma. She will be kept in strict conditions of detention (SUS) until July. This was reported to Kavkaz.Realii by the activist's acquaintances.
"Now Darya is alone in the cell. She complained about the cold, but then the weather was like that all over central Russia. The colony staff intend to put a sewing machine right in the cell to teach her sewing. She has no particular complaints," said Polyudova's acquaintance.
