Drones attacked two oil refineries in the Samara region. This was reported by the Baza telegram channel, then the information was confirmed by local authorities.

According to Governor Dmitry Azarov, on the morning of March 16 there was an attack on the Syzran oil refinery and an attempted attack on the Novokuybyshev oil refinery.

“As a result, a fire occurred at a petroleum products processing unit on the territory of the Syzran Oil Refinery. According to preliminary data, no victims. An attempt to attack the refinery in Novokuibyshevsk was stopped, there were no casualties there either,” he reported.

“All services and responsible departments have been tasked with giving priority attention to the protection of facilities in the region,” the governor added.

According to Baza, the attack occurred at 6 a.m. local time. The Telegram channel claims that the area of ​​the fire at the oil refinery in Syzran was 500 square meters. As a result of the attack at the Novokuybyshevsky oil refinery, a fire also started, which was extinguished after half an hour, the channel writes. The Russian Ministry of Defense did not report attacks on factories.

At least three Russian oil refineries have been attacked over the past week. On March 13, a drone attacked an oil refinery in Ryazan, causing a fire. On the same day, the authorities of the Rostov region reported that drones had fallen on the territory of the Novoshakhtinsky oil refinery. On March 12, due to a drone strike, a refinery plant owned by Lukoil in the Nizhny Novgorod region was stopped .

Against the backdrop of Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries in Russia, prices for gasoline and other types of fuel increased .
