A prisoner who returned from the front ended up in a colony again and will go to the front again

The Krasnooktyabrsky District Court of Volgograd sentenced Arsen Melkonyan, a former participant in the war in Ukraine, to three years and two months in a penal colony for threatening the judge, who had previously sentenced him to 11 years in prison for murder. This was reported by the joint press service of local courts, Mediazona noted .

Melkonyan was convicted under articles of threats to kill (119 of the Criminal Code), threats in connection with the administration of justice (296 of the Criminal Code) and disorganization of the activities of institutions providing isolation (part 2 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code). In addition to three years in a penal colony, he was given a fine of 150 thousand rubles.

As Mediazona notes, in 2020, the convict’s sister Anna had a fight in a parent’s chat with realtor and single father Roman Grebenyuk. After that, Arsen Melkonyan beat Grebenyuk to death. In the fall of 2022, the court sentenced him to 11 years in a maximum security colony for murder. Soon after this, Melkonyan probably enlisted in the Wagner PMC and left the colony for the front, the publication writes.

Six months later, in May 2023, he was detained and arrested. The publication V1.ru wrote that the reason for the new persecution was the threats that Melkonyan made against several people. In 2022, while in a Volgograd pre-trial detention center, he threatened to kill a correctional officer and tried to use force against him. From July 2022 to February 2023, the man sent death threats to his ex-wife and minor daughter. In April 2023, Melkonyan also wrote a threatening letter to the judge who had previously sent him to prison.

At the trial, which sentenced him to three years in a penal colony for threats, the man said that he intended to go to the front again.
