In Moscow, ballots covered in greenery were taken into account when counting votes

In Moscow, when counting votes in the last presidential election, ballots that were covered in green paint were taken into account. This was reported by RIA Novosti, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Election Commission Dmitry Reut.

“I would like to note that the 115 ballots filled with green paint at PEC 690 in Otradnoye and 217 ballots at PEC 2084 in Chertanovo Yuzhnoye are all readable, the marks on the ballots are visible. Everything was calculated and taken into account. Not a single vote was lost,” Reut said.

In turn, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the initiation of dozens of criminal cases in connection with attempts to disrupt the vote. Thus, the first deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Alexander Gorovoy, reported that 21 cases were opened under the article on obstruction of the exercise of the rights of voters (Article 141 of the Criminal Code), and 23 cases were opened under the article on knowingly false reports of acts of terrorism (Article 207 of the Criminal Code).

“A large amount of work has been carried out both from the point of view of preventing and from the point of view of documenting the passage of dyes and flammable liquids. 52 such facts were recorded, 33 criminal cases were initiated on them,” Gorovoy added, without specifying under what article these criminal cases were initiated.

At the same time, Gorovoy stated that “internal affairs officers did not identify any violations of election legislation that could directly affect the election results at specific precinct election commissions.

During all three days of voting in the elections,there were reports from different Russian regions of attempts to set fire to ballot boxes, as well as cases of voters filling ballot boxes with green paint or ink.

On March 16, the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow sent 20-year-old Alina Nevmyanova to a pre-trial detention center, who on March 15 poured green paint into a ballot box at a polling station on Altufevskoye Highway.

On March 17, it became known about a schoolgirl who tried to set fire to a tablecloth at one of the polling stations in the Krasnodar Territory. According to the chairman of PEC No. 2138, Inna Emelyanova, the girl acted “at the direction of network agents of the intelligence services of a neighboring state,” but her actions did not cause “any damage,” and the incident itself did not affect the course of voting.
