In Nevinnomyssk, a resident of one of the neighboring regions was arrested in the case of desecration of the Eternal Flame (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code), two more defendants were put on the wanted list. This was reported by the regional department of the Investigative Committee.
In the published surveillance video from March 1, four men climbed the memorial, one of them waved his foot in front of the fire, and the other filmed the event on his phone. The initiation of the case became known on March 7, then two defendants were reported : Islam T. and Alikhan M.
- Often the reasons for criminal cases on the rehabilitation of Nazism are actions with the Eternal Flame: for example, lemonade spilled into it, flowers burned there, a lit cigarette , salt poured in. According to the SOVA Research Center, many cases under Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code are initiated unlawfully and should be classified under other articles of the Criminal Code or resolved within the framework of civil rather than criminal proceedings.
