Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin said that France is preparing military personnel to be sent to Ukraine. He is quoted by TASS and RIA Novosti .
According to Naryshkin, at the initial stage Paris is allegedly going to send about two thousand people to war. At the same time, the French army is already concerned about its losses in Ukraine, since they exceeded the country’s losses in the war in Algeria in the last century, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service believes .
In February, French President Emmanuel Macron, during his speech at the summit of European leaders , allowed Western troops to be sent to Ukraine. This was reported by local BFMTV.
“Today there is no consensus on sending ground troops, but nothing can be ruled out. We will do everything possible to prevent Russia from winning this war,” Macron said.
This statement by the French leader was commented on by Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov. According to him, if European soldiers are sent to Ukraine, a conflict between Russia and NATO will be inevitable.
In early March, Macron described scenarios in which it might be possible to send French troops to Ukraine. Fabien Roussel, member of the French Parliament from the Communist Party, told L'Independent newspaper about this. According to him, Macron called one of these scenarios a breakthrough of Russian troops towards Odessa or Kyiv.
These words of Macron were again commented on by Peskov. “Mr. Macron is convinced of his policy of inflicting a strategic defeat on our country. He continues to increase the level of direct French involvement in this war. From our point of view, this in no way corresponds to the interests of the French,” Putin’s press secretary said.
Bloomberg previously reported that despite mutual military threats, Russia and France are going to launch joint production of nuclear fuel at a plant in Germany.
