Due to shelling, about nine thousand children are being evacuated from the Belgorod region. Local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated this at a meeting of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia, TASS reports .
“Today we are relocating a large number of villages. Now we are planning to remove about nine thousand children from Belgorod, the Belgorod district, the Shebekinsky district, and the Grayvoronsky district. On March 22, 1.2 thousand children travel to Penza, Tambov and Kaluga. Further to the Stavropol Territory. The system is built,” he said.
According to Gladkov, over the past week, 16 people have been killed and another 98 injured as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod region. He called the situation in the region “tense.”
On March 18, as a result of an attack in the village of Nikolskoye in the Belgorod region, a family of four people died : an elderly woman, her daughter with her common-law husband and 17-year-old son. Another child was rescued from the destroyed house.
The Belgorod region was under massive shelling, including during the presidential elections from March 15 to 17. Despite this, on one voting day, March 16, the region took the lead in turnout.
The Russian Volunteer Corps regularly reports about shelling of the Belgorod and Kursk regions, in which, allegedly, Russians who have gone over to the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are fighting. RDK, as well as the Legion "Freedom of Russia" and the "Siberian Region" stated that their volunteers entered the territory of these two regions shortly before the start of the elections. On March 18, RDK wrote about the killing of more than 600 Russian military personnel.
