“I became a member of the PEC last year - this is my first election,” says Vasilchenko. “The relationship between me and the commission was immediately tense. The first conflict occurred last year, when we were electing a deputy chairman and secretary (the chairman of the precinct election commission is appointed by the territorial election commission, his deputy is elected by members of the PEC - OVD-Info ). I wasn’t invited to the first introductory meeting in June last year; I had to find the chairman myself and find out when the meeting would be.”
As a result, at the first meeting, chairman Karina Kuzmina proposed her husband Alexey as a candidate for the post of deputy. Vasilchenko asked him to tell about himself, because she “came with ready-made solutions”:
“The crowd looked at me in surprise: “We don’t have to tell you anything.” And they voted openly, by show of hands; one woman even participated via WhatsApp because she did not come in advance. This is a violation - voting must take place secretly, and all participants must be present in person.”
Olesya wrote a complaint to the TEC. According to her, the commission members were offended by her. Later, relations improved - everyone understood that they still had to work together.
On the first day of voting, March 15, Vasilchenko came to the polling station, which is located in the building of Lyceum No. 150. According to her, everything was in order, everyone was smiling at each other. The situation escalated again on March 16.
