The author of the telegram channel “Real Crime” Ruslan Ushakov, sentenced to seven years and ten months in prison, was transferred from pre-trial detention center No. 1 of Moscow “Matrosskaya Tishina”. The prisoner's support group told OVD-Info about this.
In response to Ushakov’s letter to his relatives yesterday, March 20, they said that the prisoner had “left for another institution.” According to relatives, the convict was transported to the Tver region, but where exactly is unknown.
In June 2023, Ushakov was found guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code - distributing “fake news” about the Russian army (clause “e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), rehabilitation of Nazism (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code), justification of terrorism ( Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and incitement to hatred or enmity (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code) and was sentenced to eight years in prison. The reason was publications in the telegram channel “Real Crimes” about the shelling of Mariupol and the killings of civilians in Ukraine, as well as “calls for violence against Vladimir Putin.” The prosecution requested nine years in prison for the man.
The punishment was determined based on the totality of the “crimes.” Thus, under Articles 207.3 and 205.2, Ushakov was sentenced to six years with a ban on using the Internet for two years, under Article 354.1 - three years and a ban on using the Internet for one year, and under Article 282 - four years.
The Court of Appeal in October 2022 commuted the sentence by two months: to seven years and ten months in prison.
Ushakov has been in custody since his arrest on December 14, 2022. At one of the court hearings, Ushakov stated that during his arrest he was tortured with electric shock. During the debate, he also claimed that he immediately admitted guilt under one of the articles and asked not to torture him, but this did not stop the security forces.
On April 2, Ruslan Ushakov was taken to IK-4 in Torzhok (Tver region). His relatives told OVD-Info about this.
