The death toll during the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow has increased to 137 people. TASS writes about this with reference to the Investigative Committee.
The department reported that 62 bodies have been identified.
Previously, 133 deaths were reported. The Moscow Region Ministry of Health reported that the number of victims during the terrorist attack reached 154.
The Investigative Committee also added that two Kalashnikov assault rifles, four sets of combat ammunition and more than 500 rounds of ammunition were seized from the scene of the terrorist attack. When examining the site of the terrorist attack, department officials did not find any traces of mining.
The terrorist attack occurred at Crocus City Hall on March 22. There was supposed to be a concert of the Picnic group there. Before the event in the building, armed militants began shooting at unarmed people.
During the terrorist attack, the hall building burned down. The fire was extinguished approximately a day after the incident.
The day after the terrorist attack, the FSB published a video showing the detention of the militants. The service claimed that the suspects were allegedly planning to cross the border between Russia and Ukraine; they were detained in the Bryansk region.
The New York Times, citing sources, wrote that the Islamic State was responsible for the attack. However, after the incident, Russian pro-government telegram channels called the information about ISIS’s involvement in the terrorist attack “fake.” However, the day before, ISIS called the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall “the most brutal attack in recent years.”
According to media reports, Western countries warned Russia about a possible terrorist attack. At the same time, Vladimir Putin, before the incident at Crocus, called the messages from the West “blackmail.” “All this resembles outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilize our society,” Putin said on March 19 during an FSB board meeting.
