The Hungarian composer Peter Etvosh died
One of the largest opera composers of our time, Hungarian conductor Peter Etvesh died at 81 years of life, the newspaper Magyar Nemzet said . His family said that he had died after a long illness.
Etvesh is the author of several modern operas, the most famous of which are “three sisters”, “Golden Dragon”, “Angels in America”, “Love and other demons”. The libretto for operas were written in Russian, English, German and French, his first opera in his native Hungarian was released only in 2023.
In addition, he is the author of works for a symphonic orchestra, Madrigal comedies, several soundtracks for films.
As a conductor, Etvyosh worked mainly with the music of the 19th century. He was the main invited conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Getorg, the orchestra of the Vienna Radio and the Philharmonic Orchestra "Radio France".
In his homeland, he was awarded the Koshuta Prize twice, the highest award for artists established by the National Assembly. He received the second prize shortly before his death, March 19.
