Volgograd TV channel disclosed personal information of those who laid flowers in memory of Navalny

The host of the “Online Conversation” program on the Volgograd 1 TV channel, Sergei Mazanov, read out on air the names of the people who brought flowers to the monument to the victims of political repression after the death of Alexei Navalny. He also named their places of work and showed photographs and links to social networks. The publication “7x7” drew attention to the broadcast. The video of the broadcast was published in local telegram channels.

Mazanov called it a “journalistic investigation,” the purpose of which was to establish who came to the monument to victims of repression on the day of Navalny’s death and funeral. He called the monument itself “a place of pilgrimage for Navalnists.”

The presenter announced the names and showed photos of several dozen people. Among them were teachers, employees of banks and large companies. At the end, he added that this is not a final list, since “the investigation is not yet completed.”

Mazanov called Alexei Navalny “a criminal who openly worked for our enemies.” “There was no political matter there. He insulted a veteran of the Great Patriotic War; before that, he stole a forest with his brother,” his co-host added.

On the day of Navalny's death on February 16, on the day of his funeral on March 1, and on other days, security forces across Russia detained hundreds of people who came to memorials to lay flowers in memory of the politician. Some people detained for flowers ended up being detained for a day. Security forces threatened some with violence and sending them to war.

Alexei Navalny died in IK-3 in the village of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Officials say he died of “natural causes.” Navalny's relatives and associates accused Putin of murdering the politician.
