Kurdish movement took the position of denial of the ideology of pantyurkism Pantyurkism suggests that all peoples speaking in Turkic languages are the same nation and must unite into a single state. . Kurd resistance: Yanok lasted almost all the time since the formation of modern Turkey in 1923. One of the most famous organizations of Kurdish resistance is the Kurdistan Workers Party (RPK).
The Kurdistan’s working party was created by Abdullah Ojalan and Sakina Dzhanyz in 1978 in Turkey. The ideology of the party was based on Marxism-Leninism. Since the mid-1980s, the organization has been in an armed struggle with the Turkish government.
At first, the purpose of the RPK was to build a Kurdish national state, but later Abdullah Odjalan formulated a new concept of self -government, which could replace the national states of the Middle East. For the first time, a model of Kurdish self -government, based on this ideology, was tested in 2009 in North Kurdistan (Türkiye), when mainly supporters of the RPC were elected to the municipal self -government bodies. After that, nine thousand Kurds were accused by the Turkish government of terrorism and thrown into prisons.
In 2003, a party of democratic unity (Pyd), close in its ideas to the RPK, was founded in Western Kurdistan (Syrian region of Rozhava), but operating in Syria.
The Kurdistan working party is recognized as a terrorist organization in Turkey, the USA and a number of European countries. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claims that Kurdish detachments in Syria are under the control of the RPK and, therefore, are terrorists.
Kurdish parties and detachments are connected as the horizontal movement of ideologically close organizations, and not a bureaucratic structure. Read more about Kurdistan in our cards.
