About a hundred people gathered at the Georgian parliament to express disagreement with a repeated consideration of the Law on “foreign agents”.

Activist: Ki came out with posters: “There is no Russian law” and “Two years hard to Europe” . At the coordination rally against the bill, the activist: Ki also intended to determine the strategy of protest actions. The police and two ambulances were on duty at the parliament building.

On the eve of April 3, the ruling party "Georgian Dream" announced the intention to repeat the bill on "foreign agents". Earlier in March 2023, the deputy: Ki of the “Georgian Dream” in parliament introduced the same bill. Then the initiative passed the first reading, after which mass protests began in the country. The bill involves the registration of non -governmental organizations and media, 20% of whose income was received from abroad. According to the leader of the parliamentary faction of the Georgian Dream, Mamuki Midinaradze, non -governmental organizations are engaged in anti -state actions, in particular, the spread of “pseudoliberal ideology” and “LGBT+propaganda”.

The bill is practically no different from last year. However, the wording “Agent of Foreign Infant” was changed to “Organization carrying out the interests of a foreign power”. According to the bill, such organizations will be required to publish financial reports annually. For violation of the law, they will write out a fine.

Georgian Law on "Ino -Agents"

• On March 2, 2023, a discussion of projects “On the transparency of foreign influence” and “On the registration of foreign agents” began in the country's parliament. If these bills are accepted, non-governmental and media organizations funded from abroad will have to be registered as “agents of foreign influence”.

• The bill was introduced by a group of deputied: to the “Power of the People”, formally separated from the ruling party “Georgian Dream”. The group is known for its anti -Western statements. For more than six months of existence, its representative: Nitsa published 12 public letters and held dozens of press conferences, writes Jam News.

• The bill was criticized by many non -governmental organizations, media, politicians and even Georgian president Salome Zurabishvili. The UN representation in Georgia stated that the law on foreign agents may prevent the work of civil society and the media that make a significant contribution to Georgian democracy.
