On the evening of April 5, in the city of Orenburg region, due to the flood caused by the Taly waters, there was a breakthrough of the embankment dam on the Ural River. Water flooded the streets and its level continues to grow. According to the latest information, about 600 households are flooded, but the city hall reports that 4,258 houses in the Old City microdistrict fall into the flood zone, 10,987 people live in them. TASS reports that the bodies of three dead have already been discovered in the flood zone.
At the moment, evacuation is ongoing in the city. It is provided by employees of the Ministry of Emergencies, who are tightened from the region and other regions. In Orsk, temporary accommodation points in city schools and gymnasiums are deployed. Rescuers evacuate people on buses and boats and at the same time work on the restoration of the dam: they try to fall asleep the breakthrough.
According to Business Online, the flooding of Orsk is associated with a powerful flood on the Ural River and an increase in water level in the Iriklinsky reservoir, which is caused by intense melting of snow. The press service of Rosvodresursi reported a record discharge of water from the Iriklinsky reservoir-2170 m³/s. According to experts and officials, now the reservoir is almost filled and can only “cut off the peak of the flood” - that is, reduce the maximum flooding levels, but not to restrain it completely.
Great water, due to the rise in the level of the Urals, came to Orenburg. According to the head of the city of Sergei Salmin, now 300 households and 750 sites are flooded in the city. Salmin called on the inhabitants to evacuate, without waiting for the situation to become a “threatening”: “The situation is critical. In a day alone, the water level in the Urals increased by 91 centimeters! The electrical and gas supply of your areas will be disabled! I urge you: go to your relatives or friends, or to temporary accommodation points. ”
The mayor of Orenburg noted that the flooding threatens the Porstadt microdistrict, as well as seven villages and a number of horticultural partnerships.
The director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Sergey Borsch, in a conversation with MSK1.ru, said that weather forecasters were warned of a possible high flood of forecasters a month before the emergency. “We expected the high flood and flooding of Orenburg and Orsk. We provided this in our certificates, and in the forecast of March 6. If there are difficulties, then the situation will be heated over the next week, ”he said.
According to the specialist in water structures by Vladimir Tetelmin, the floods are especially acute in such steppe regions as the Orenburg region. “It was possible to foresee what the level of this flood would be,” he said. - [what is happening in Orsk] is, to put it mildly, the sloppiness of the relevant services. It was just necessary to take and strengthen this dam. The responsible owner would have done so. ”
