Orenburg authorities called on residents to evacuate dangerous areas due to flooding

The water level in the Ural River in Orenburg rose to 897 centimeters, which became a danger for local residents. This was reported to the city administration.

“At 10:40 a siren sounded in Orenburg. A state of emergency is in effect in the regional center. The water level in the Ural River in the city is approaching a dangerous level and amounts to 897 centimeters at 08:00. “Everyone who is in the area of ​​possible flooding must evacuate immediately,” the message says.

The flood zone included dacha areas located in the floodplains of the Urals and Sakmara.

In Orsk, 6,995 residential buildings with private plots were flooded. 2,493 people were evacuated from there, including 797 children.

In total, almost 6.4 thousand people were evacuated in the Orenburg region due to the flood, including more than 1.7 thousand children, the press service of the regional government reported .

On April 8, residents of Orsk staged a rally on Komsomolskaya Square near the city administration building. Those gathered demanded the mayor's resignation, as well as measures to combat the flood and increased compensation for victims. After this, the mayor of the city, Vasily Kozupitsa, promised 100 thousand rubles to all families affected by the flood.
