In Chita, a schoolgirl was sent to a pre-trial detention center because of a post on a telegram channel and graffiti “Death to the regime!”

A Chita court transferred 17-year-old schoolgirl Lyubov Lizunova, accused of calls for terrorist and extremist activities, from house arrest to a pre-trial detention center. Activist Anastasia Shevchenko was informed about this by the second person involved in the case, Alexander Snezhkov.

“Lyuba was also arrested. He will finish 10th grade in a pre-trial detention center,” he wrote from a pre-trial detention center in Omsk.

The teenagers were detained at the end of October 2022. According to investigators, Lizunova and Snezhkov painted graffiti with the words “Death to the regime!” in one of the garage cooperatives in Chita. Investigators also suspect the schoolchildren of administering two Telegram channels about anti-war protests and animal protection, one of which allegedly published a post approving the arson of military registration and enlistment offices.

A case was opened against the schoolchildren under three criminal articles: calls for terrorist activities (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and extremist activities (Article 280 of the Criminal Code), as well as vandalism motivated by political hatred (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code).

Initially, the teenagers were under recognizance not to leave, but in January 2023 Snezhkov was sent to a pre-trial detention center, and Lizunova was placed under house arrest. Before that, they were included in the register of “terrorists and extremists.”
