“We in Ukraine know very well the horror of similar attacks.” Zelensky condemned Iran's attack on Israel

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky condemned Iran's attack on Israel, comparing it with strikes by Russian troops on Ukrainian territories. He called on allies, including the United States, to speed up military assistance.

Ukraine condemns Iran's attack against Israel using Shahed drones and missiles. We in Ukraine know very well the horror of similar attacks from Russia, which uses the same Shahed drones and Russian missiles, the same tactics of massive air strikes.

Every effort must be made to prevent further escalation in the Middle East. Iran's actions threaten the entire region and the world, just as Russia's actions pose the risk of expanding the war. And the obvious cooperation of the two regimes in the spread of terror must receive a decisive and united response from the world.

Zelensky called the sound of Iranian drones an “instrument of terror,” which he said sounds the same in the skies over the Middle East and Europe.

This sound should be a wake-up call to the free world, demonstrating that only our unity and determination can save lives and prevent the spread of terror throughout the world.

The world cannot wait while discussions continue. Words don't stop drones or shoot down missiles. Only tangible help can do this. The help we are waiting for. We must strengthen security and resolutely oppose anyone who wants to make terror the new norm.

The President of Ukraine stressed the importance of the US Congress making the “necessary decisions” to strengthen Washington’s allies.

• Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Iran has become one of the key allies of the Russian authorities. Thus, the Russian Ministry of Defense actively uses Iranian-made kamikaze drones “Shahed-131/136” for attacks on Ukrainian territories, which in the Russian Federation renamed them “Geran-1” and “Geran-2”.
• For several months, due to internal political disagreements, the US Congress has been unable to approve a bill that includes funding for military assistance to Ukraine and Israel.
• On the night of April 14, Iran attacked Israel using hundreds of missiles and drones. The Israel Defense Forces said it shot down most of them. The attack, the IDF said, caused minor damage to the Nevatim air base in the Negev Desert. Iran threatened to launch a larger strike if Israel responded to the attack.
• After the Iranian strike, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Simone Halperin said that Jerusalem expected Moscow to condemn Iran's attack on Israel. In response, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that she did not remember the Israeli side’s condemnation of Kiev’s strikes on Russian territory.
