Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Russian troops received orders to capture Chasov Yar by May 9

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said that the Russian military leadership instructed its troops to capture the city of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region by May 9. Syrsky’s statement was published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Syrsky, the Russian army concentrated its efforts to break through the Ukrainian defenses west of Bakhmut, reach the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal, capture Chasov Yar and create conditions “for further advance to the Kramatorsk agglomeration.”

“The implementation of the enemy’s plans is hampered by the heroic defense of our brigades, which literally dug into the ground, holding back the enemy’s daily attacks. <…> At the same time, the threat remains relevant, taking into account the fact that the top Russian military leadership has set the task for its troops to capture Chasov Yar by May 9,” said Syrsky.

During a war, it is impossible to quickly verify information disseminated even by official representatives of the parties to the conflict.
