There is a Russian citizen on board an Israeli container ship seized by Iran

Russian citizen Timofey Kolchanov is on board an Israeli merchant ship seized by Iran. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in Tehran.

The message from the diplomatic mission cites the initials of the Russian - T.S. Kolchanov. According to the Vladivostok publication Vl.ru, this is 38-year-old senior mechanic Timofey Kolchanov.

The Russian Embassy said it is in contact with the sailor’s relatives and Iranian authorities “in order to provide the necessary consular assistance.” The Shot telegram channel writes that the Russian embassy informed the sailor’s relatives that everything was fine with him.

• On April 13, Iran seized the container ship MSC Aries, sailing under the flag of Portugal, in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel is associated with the British company Zodiac Maritime, which is among the assets of Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. Israel accused Iran of state piracy.
