"It's like war." The President of Israel speaks about Iran's attack on the country

Israeli President Isaac Herzog called Iran's attack on Israeli territory on the night of April 14 a "declaration of war." He stated this in an interview with the British television channel Sky News.

“At night we were attacked from four directions in the Middle East, the shelling was carried out by Iranian proxies. We were fired at with ballistic missiles, drones and cruise missiles were used. <…> This looks like a real war. I mean, this is a declaration of war,” Herzog said, declaring that Israel “seeks peace” in the region.

During the interview, the Israeli President avoided directly answering the question of what the country's response to the Iranian attack might be. According to him, Israel is “considering all options.” “I have every confidence that we will take the necessary steps to protect and defend our people. We are not looking for war,” Herzog repeated.

• Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel on the night of April 14. The Israel Defense Forces said that most of them were shot down, and the Israeli Nevatim airbase in the Negev desert received minor damage as a result of the attack.
• According to The New York Times, Israel did not launch an immediate strike in response to the Iranian attack after a conversation between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden. Iran threatened Israel with a more massive attack if it responded to the attack.
