Father of the sailor who died on the Moscow: a monument to the sailors of the sunken cruiser was unveiled in Sevastopol. The captain and some of the relatives were not invited

In Sevastopol, annexed by the Russian Federation, a monument was unveiled to the sailors of the 30th division of surface ships who died during the war in Ukraine, most of whom were members of the last crew of the sunken cruiser Moskva, said the father of sailor Yegor Shkrebets who died on the Moskva, Dmitry Shkrebets. The Agency publication drew attention to his post on VKontakte.

According to Shkrebets, the memorial was erected on the second anniversary of the death of the cruiser and placed opposite the place in the harbor where the Moskva usually stood. The ceremony took place on April 13 and was “informal.”

The father of the deceased sailor claims that many family members of the deceased servicemen from the Moskva were notified the day before the ceremony, and they did not have time to arrive. The rest of the relatives of the dead sailors were not notified at all.

“I don’t know why the people directly involved in the creation of this memorial, as well as members of the cruiser’s crew and the ship’s captain Anton Valerievich Kuprin (who wanted to be there, as on the first anniversary) were not invited to the opening,” Shkrebet said, noting that the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Sergei Pinchuk, was at the ceremony.

According to the father of the deceased sailor, the names of 20 Moskva crew members are written on the memorial, while the Russian Ministry of Defense officially reported one dead and 27 missing sailors. “And this means that 8 crew members of the cruiser are still missing in action,” says Shkrabets.

• The cruiser "Moskva" sank on April 14, 2022. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that there was a fire on board, which caused the detonation of ammunition and subsequent flooding. Ukraine claimed that the cruiser was hit by two Neptune missiles.
