A neural network has been created in Russia to identify violators among people with migrant experience

A neural network has appeared in Russia that can check a document for authenticity and compare its photo with the face of the bearer. It was developed by Smart Engines, RIA Novosti reports . The creators position this project as a system for identifying lawbreakers, including terrorists, among people with migrant experience.

The agency notes that the company's products are used in many credit institutions, including Alfa Bank, VTB, Gazprombank, Raiffeisenbank and Tinkoff. Its systems are also used when selling tickets at Russian Railways ticket offices, at automatic passport control at Sheremetyevo, as well as when registering self-employed people in the “My Tax” application.

Xenophobic sentiments in Russia intensified after the attack by armed militants on Crocus City Hall on March 22. Eleven people were arrested in connection with the terrorist attack, most of whom were citizens of Tajikistan. Against this background, security forces began checking foreigners on the street, and some Russians began to refuse to get into taxis with drivers who were citizens of Tajikistan. The Baza Telegram channel wrote that the leaders of Tajik communities recommended their fellow citizens living in Russia not to leave their homes in the evenings.

Some politicians have advocated tightening immigration rules. For example, State Duma deputy from annexed Crimea Mikhail Sheremet proposed limiting the entry of all foreigners into Russia until the war in Ukraine ends. Vice Speaker of the State Duma from the “New People” Vladislav Davankov called for deporting people with migrant experience “for the slightest offense”, as well as introducing digital control over them.
