A column entitled “Stop putting up with this!” appeared on the website of the Dynamo-Moscow women’s volleyball team. Its author, ex-volleyball player and advisor to Dynamo general director Elena Godina, accused the club’s rivals from Kaliningrad Lokomotiv of “LGBT propaganda” by demonstrating “same-sex kisses on the lips and other abominations.”
The column says that on April 14, the Dynamo women's team from Moscow lost the fifth and decisive match of the semi-final playoff series to Lokomotiv Kaliningrad and will now compete only for third place at the 2024 Russian Championship.
“These days we were under unprecedented pressure from all sides; we lacked stamina, endurance, and in some ways even character and combativeness. But today I want to touch on another topic that is obvious to everyone, about which, alas, everyone prefers to remain silent,” Godina wrote.
According to her, in broadcasts of matches, “close-up displays of monstrous gestures imitating sexual intercourse performed by Lokomotiv Kaliningrad players directed towards the opposing teams, same-sex kisses on the lips and other abominations.”
She accompanied her column with several shots from the last match. They show one of the Lokomotiv volleyball players kissing another on the cheek. In another photo, the girls are hugging.
Godina complained that match referees throughout the season “did not make a single comment for such behavior.” “Worse, all this is met with approval from teammates who dress up in satanic guise, while three of the Lokomotiv players are raising their own children!” the column says.
“At a time when Russian lands and people are subjected to enemy bombing, when the best representatives of the country defend us with arms in hand, doctors, teachers, priests, workers of all the most complex labor-intensive professions work for the benefit of our country - will this flourish here? This will never happen!” - Godina summarized.
The Sport Express publication writes that the reason for Godina’s speech was an “incident” at the match: after the game, Dynamo captain Natalia Goncharova showed her middle finger to her rivals from Lokomotiv. The All-Russian Volleyball Federation promised to conduct an inspection. Dynamo itself explained this as a “provocation of the guests” of the match.
