In Tbilisi, the second day in a row is protested against the bill on "foreign agents"

In Tbilisi, the Parliament of Georgia again began a rally against the bill on foreign agents, reports Megatv television company.

According to the channel, the special forces detachment is already in the vicinity and in the courtyard of the building. Also, the parliament has a car with a water fur coat.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia called for participants in the protest against the bill to remain calm and not go beyond the law.

“We once again call the organizers and participants of the action to express a protest in peaceful form, not to violate the law and obey the instructions of the police. Any fact of the offense will be suppressed by the police,” the department was warned.

In Georgia on Monday, April 15, the parliament began to consider the bill "On Transparency of Foreign Infant" (in the past - the Law on "foreign agents").

On the first day, the document was considered at a meeting of the Committee on Legal Affairs.

The consideration was interrupted by a fight: during the speech of the leader of the parliamentary majority of Mamuka Minaradze, he was attacked by the leader of the opposition party "Citizens" Aleo Elisashvili.

Then other deputies joined the brawl. A few minutes later, the fight was over.

Recall that the ruling party "Georgian Dream", which constitutes the majority in parliament, decided to re -introduce a bill on "foreign agents", which was withdrawn in the spring of 2023 after protests.

The updated bill is called "on the transparency of foreign influence."

The explanatory note states that the country should introduce the concept of an organization “conducting the interests of foreign power” , and begin to register such entities “accordingly” .

According to the document, the legislative act "serves only the purpose of informing and will not limit the activities of organizations" recognized by "conductors of foreign interests."
