I begin to write this text in the hotel, in the evening of March 16, when Belgorod is again under fire. Rentes rumble in the sky. In the city today - like yesterday - there are hits and is already known about the dead and the wounded. The phone has a message from the Ministry of Emergencies: “Throughout the Belgorod region, a rocket danger! If possible, stay at home. Do not approach the windows. "
Governor Gladkov spoke about two dead in the news: it is only known that this is a man and a woman. I saw a frightened family with a child of six years old fled today to the sounds of shots and explosions along the street. And they ran to the shelter. On this day they were able to escape.
People in Belgorod ask for protection, ask for evacuation, about any help. And all of them, everyone who hides in shelters, who prays and shudders from the shots, everyone knows that now in neighboring Kharkov there are also explosions. People there are also afraid and pressed against the walls.
And everyone expects that tomorrow will be the same.
The Kommersant newspaper, recognized in Russia system -forming media, writes : over the past two years, 10,582 civilians have died in the war zone. 19,875 were injured. I know that these calculations do not include peaceful, who died in the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk regions and the Krasnodar Territory. They, according to officials, are today 183:
16 chicken,
17 Krasnodarsev,
19 Bryantsev,
131 Belgorod.
I have no way to go in the territory where martial law has been introduced. I have no opportunity to go to people on the other side of the front. But I want to talk about the dead peaceful. And I will talk about those about whom. It seems to me that the pain of their relatives is very similar in all cities.
The soldier chooses a risk, he knows what can happen to him, but a student, accountant, builder, pensioner, nurse, one -year -old child - do not choose a fragment, do not choose a bullet, do not choose a shell.
The stories of the people with whom I spoke made me cry for the first time in many years. And it’s hard for me to imagine how many these tears - and much more bitter - is now pouring everywhere. And they do not bring relief to anyone anywhere ...

Yeysk-an 82-thousandth resort city on the Sea of Azov. Right opposite him, on the northern shore of the Taganrog Gulf, stands Mariupol. In good weather, two cities see each other.
In the non -industrial season Yeisk - as if he was sleeping. There are few people on the streets, many cafes and shops are closed. On October 17, 2022 it was the same sleepy day, and suddenly in the evening, at about 18.25, an explosion sounded in the very center of the city. This moment of the media will later be called the Su-34 disaster-a fighter-bomber, three minutes earlier from a military airfield. But in reality - this evening became a disaster for eight families whose loved ones died.
According to the official version, after setting the height of the plane, the engine caught fire - TASS, citing power structures, said that two seagulls had got into it. The bomber began to fall and crashed right into a nine -story building on the Communist Street, 20/1. 16 people died.
The seven dead were one family.
Alexander Ishchenko was 50 years old, his wife Galina - 49. To their son Anton - 20, and her daughter Natalia - 26. Natalia had three children: Vanya - 9 years old, Nina - 8, and the most younger, Kolya, only 5.

Now seven of their graves are behind a separate fence in the new city cemetery. And every month, sometimes not once, an elderly woman comes to them - the mother of Alexander Lyubov Kirillovna .
“Hello, son. Do you smile? She says, wiping the portrait of her son on the tombstone with a handkerchief. “Hello, Natasha, my granddaughter,” goes to the neighboring burial. - Hello, Vanya. You are not visible at all, you need to sign it. So Ninochka is our rest ... Children have not lived yet. Nicolas ... Nicolasha ... "
The Lyubov Kirillovna room in the old Mazanka in the village of Krasnoflotsky is now memorial. Every day for a year and a half, it lights in a candle placed along the wall of portraits. And prays for the rest.
Here is the story told by her:
- Sasha was a furniture holder. He made furniture to order: well - people were not offended. His hands were gold: he made repairs. Officially, he did not work, because Antosha-their son is a disabled person, and he had to carry him to the doctor, and his wife, Galya, could not raise him. Galya worked with the disabled all her life, helped them-her sister-hostess in the boarding school. Natasha worked in the store, and the children ... Children studied at school. Vanechka went to the third grade, Nina to the second, and Kolya ... Kolya only went to the kindergarten.
What this happened, I learned from my sister living in the north. She called and asked: "Lyuba, are you watching TV?" I say: "What is there?" She said: "The plane fell on your house." And then I began to call the Ministry of Emergencies: "Tell me at least something." They answer: “We do not give certificates. Contact the police. " I call there: "Contact the Ministry of Emergencies." No one said anything. Then Kiryusha came - a grandson from another son, Andrei. He comes in and says: "Grandma, they are not." Everything, my hysteria, intercepted my throat. They took it into the air, I all called Andryusha: "I will go to identification." He says: "No, mothers, I do not want the eighth coffin." And Andryusha himself went, but once he identified the wrong man. And then they called again. They showed him his legs, he says: “Oh, our fingers ...” What I have, that his fingers are the same. And Sasha ...
They did not die immediately, not from the explosion. The plane crashed into the fourth floor, and they lived above. Sasha even called the daughter of our Kumov, who was supposed to meet at the station, and said that he could not come. Then Andryusha still called him - Sasha said that he would call back later. They waited for rescuers, and the house covered with a fire. But in our city, as it turned out, there are no fire stairs to save people until the ninth floor. While the brigade came from Kanevskaya while they were stewed ...
And first of all, they extinguished the plane ... Andryusha said that Natasha was sitting in the bedroom - she covered the children with herself, so one side only intact Vani and Nina. And Kolya was between her legs. And one Kolya did not burn ...
The pilots were catapulted, but I do not blame them. And what to blame them? They have an order. They have an order, they carried out. They were told to jump, they jumped. We went with my eldest son to the military unit. We went to those pilots - they were in the hospital. They bought them tangerines, oranges. But we were not allowed there. They lay, they had to send them either to Krasnodar, or to Moscow. Well, at least we managed to give them to them, so that they would eat ... They themselves from the Far East from somewhere. Khabarovskikh seems to be. And from there they sent a plane in connection with this Ukraine. And here they are ... minutes, minutes, it would be enough for them to take the plane to the estuary. And no one would have suffered. And they will not be able to fly now, disabled people too.
And the Ministry of Defense - yes, there is a resentment against them: for the fact that no one came to us for the funeral. What is there, we are here with them now for the apartment, for moral damage. Useless, of course. But even if they arrived, they said: "Mother, we are wearing you." They know where I live. If only they just arrived ... I saw the military only when the girl was buried, which the latter died. Then they came, they came a lot. And we had no one.

Though climb into the loop and lie down next to it. Why bury seven coffins? How to endure it? I asked my niece: “Lena, buy suits for children: you need to prepare a ring for school, Vanya at school already. Ninochka - a dress needs, and buy her a bow: do not cling, I know that there may not be hair. ”
In the city administration, we were told that compensation was only for my son. Dali 1 million rubles. And they said about others that they were not relative to me: neither grandchildren nor great -grandchildren. I say: okay, the daughter-in-law of other blood, and our grandchildren and great-grandchildren are our great? No, not supposed. Well, it is not supposed - not supposed. For a million I made monuments. She said that until I put them - I won’t die. The soil has not yet settled, early to put them. I bought seven monuments. There the house is drawn and the plane enters the house, and seven pigeons fly out - their souls.
The only thing helped us to bury. They buried us. The city administration helped both with commemoration and everything. The refrigerator was allocated by the deputies - two -chamber.
For so long this airfield stood empty. Only how Ukraine began - they began to fly. Well, now - victory will be for us. If Ukrainians go to peace negotiations, then, in my opinion, Putin is always ready for us. I told mine already that no matter how they scolded him, but maybe he was holding the world. Maybe only thanks to him we have no *** here. Yes, it’s scary in Belgorod, but here, in Yeysk, it is still calm.
It is a pity for people everywhere: both in Belgorod and in Ukraine. And they are sorry for their children, and the elderly. Why are it ordinary people?
The damaged sections of the house 20/1 on the street of the Communist Set of Yeisk asked not to restore - they wrote letters to the city administration with a request to organize a memorial in their place. The officials, according to Lyubov Kirillovna, first agreed, and then - nevertheless decided to rebuild two entrances and again populate people there.
As a memorial in the courtyard, trees were planted. They were tied with twine and clearly care for them.
When I walked near the house, a military plane flew over the city again.

On December 30, 2023, Belgorod was subjected to the most large-scale shelling for the entire time of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Around 15.10, explosions were heard in the city center. 25 people died, 108 - were injured.
Over the past three months, dozens of people have died in the region, but it was on December 30 that the 300,000-thousand Belgorod turned all their lives, making it front-line. After those events, reinforced concrete shelters began to be placed on the streets, people stopped walking and began to listen to sounds - so that God forbid not to miss the whistle of an approaching shell or howl of a siren that warning of danger. They began to distinguish “flights” from “arrivals”.
If in Belgorod they say “that day” - everyone accurately understands which one.
But then, on December 30, no one had listened to sounds, was not afraid to walk, and everyone was just preparing to celebrate the New Year ...
Nadezhda and Dmitry Ryapolov were successful people. He worked as the director of Belvodokanal, she is an economist in the same organization. We traveled together half a world: from Africa to North America. And we met in a small village of Cossack, which is 34 kilometers from Belgorod: Nadezhda stayed with her parents, and Dmitry came to friends. So met.
On December 2, 2022, their son German was born. The child was long -awaited.

On December 30, the family went for a walk an hour before shelling. Street surveillance cameras captured the last seconds of their lives - the shell exploded a few meters from them.
Now the whole family is buried in a small cemetery in the village of Cossack, which is 34 kilometers from Belgorod. Here, the mother of Hope Natalya Viktorovna comes to their grave every day.
- My children died. My daughter, my son -in -law and the little grandson German - December 2, he only turned a year old.

At lunch, Nadia and I talked on the phone: it was 13.03. They were funny, they attached, they say: we take a walk, come, we will put the hero to sleep. But they did not return from a walk.
I wanted them to come here, in Cossack, for the New Year. They had to come on January 1, but I asked before - because it was loudly from December 29 to 30 in Belgorod: they hid in the bathroom at night. I said: "Daughter, come better today." She: "Mom, everything will be fine, do not worry, we will arrive on the 1st." Everyone was supposed to come: the eldest daughter of the world with children, a granddaughter from St. Petersburg on vacation. And they.
Well, then ... my husband was in the city just at the time of "arrival". He heard these explosions. And he began to call Nadia. Nadia called me. They did not answer. Well, we thought: maybe somewhere in the shelter [we went] or hid somewhere else. I called Dima, Nadim, Dima, Nadia. But they did not answer. Everyone called them, but we could not find them anywhere.
Then the eldest daughter of the world began to look for them in hospitals, and ... we were told that they died. Only the hero lived a little more, but could not save him. I still cannot understand where they went. They probably wanted to buy something. This explosion is immediately visible on the cell, and then they are lying, and the stroller is standing.
Nadezhda Ryapolova was 33 years old, Dmitry was 41. All that remains of their family is now photographs, flowers in the apartment that Natalya Viktorovna still goes to water, German toys and two cats, one of which is a disabled person.
-Somewhere on the Internet they read, heard that in Moscow someone bought a small kitten-Maine-kuna Polydact. And he fell from the seventh floor and broke his spine. The owners brought him to sleep, but in the clinic refused to do it and took it to their place. And then Nadia and Dima became very sorry for the cat, they got into the car, drove to Moscow and took this kitten. Learned to care for him.

When they left, they brought both cats here. I also quarreled with them, because this mein-kun is problematic. And now - I was offered to put him to sleep, but I can’t do it. I can never, because they loved him very much, and, it seems to me, the children would not forgive me if I had done something with him.
Well, now we’ll be: there are no children, there is no grandson, but there are cats. Only cats and a lot of flowers. A lot of colors in their apartment: different, large, blooming. Now all the orchids at Nadi bloomed. It’s very scary to enter the apartment: you know, they ate, drink tea, went for a walk, and Gerochkina T -shirt, Dimin's clothes are homemade, Nadyahushin robe - everything remained in place. Cups with lemon - they drank tea with lemon. The lemon has dried in a cup.
It seems that they should return. But they ... I, however, hope that ... no, I understand that they will not return, but everything seems to me - what if? .. Is it so scary, it should not have been so, do you understand? Parents should not bury their children and grandchildren.
The hero in one coffin with Nadia ... I once told her: "Nadia, it’s probably hard for you to wear a hero in her arms." Nadia was thin with us. And she says: "Mom, you know, if I did not need to cook and clean in the house, I would never let it go with it." So they left all together ...
Life was divided into “before” and “after”. Our family has its own traditions, our foundations. We have always celebrated the New Year together. They always cooked dumplings - with different fillings, surprises. What was not put in them. Everyone was waiting, everyone wanted: "Well, what will come with what?" "I got a thread: Oh, we are on a trip!" "Beans are to the child." Nadia was looking for the beans: "Mom, well, I will come across."
And now no holidays. No holidays are needed if only they returned. If they were with us.
And small, you see, he just started to walk. He went at 11 months, and then hit, scared and somehow began to be careful. And in December they were here for five days. And he began to run! He already played hide and seek with me. He was so interesting. Only he never called me a grandmother. He did not have time. He only said “mom”, “dad”. It's just small. But he would definitely say. I wanted to take him to the kindergarten, to school. You know, Nadi had an idea: we will make a time capsule, put him his first toy, rattles, we will write down his wishes, and when he is 25 years old, we will get it all and read it, show him. I also said: “Until such a time I will not live. Well, you know, 25 years old. " Well, I’m probably going to school ...
They were going to go to Moscow, wanted to live in Moscow. Dima wanted to take them away from this danger. But all their plans were destroyed. Here the Gerochkina toys remained. I still have a granddaughter, she also misses, she does not understand, she cannot understand where the hero is, where her Aunt Nadia godmother is. And they are not. But she hopes that they will come.
Now Natalya Viktorovna wants her eldest daughter Svetlana with her family to leave Belgorod. And they really are going to Moscow - away from shelling.
- Unfortunately, only now we are talking to them about it. Yes, I really want them to leave somewhere in a safe place. Because what we had to survive is very difficult. Very, very.
I myself can now not be able to go anywhere. I need to go here - in the cemetery.
Yes. You know, we have relatives there, in Ukraine, have friends. I believe that it cannot be so that there, in that country, everyone wished us evil. This cannot be. I don't believe. It cannot be that just normal people wish us here - this is what happened to us. And we also do not want them.
I do not want the children to die there. I wish you all the world, only the world. I wish you peace. This is the only wish. So that this ends quickly, so that no one else died from civilians and none of the military. So that the young guys do not die. Because it is very scary and this is a great grief for loved ones.

Standing at the grave, where Dmitry, Nadezhda and Herman are buried under the same cross, Natalya Viktorovna says that he comes to the graves of fellow villagers who died in the war zone.

Everything was quiet.
Was.

He did not pick up the phone.

I returned home. I called.
"Hello, who is it?" And immediately I understood everything. Strongly?"
See how?

This is necessary.
I don't know what to say.

She worked on a collective farm.
I can't understand this.
