Israel attacked Iran with drones

Israel retaliated against Iran on the night of April 19. This was reported by the American television channel CNN, citing sources in the United States.

Iran's air defense systems were activated after three explosions near a major military airbase near the Iranian city of Isfahan. According to the Iranian FARS agency, fighter jets are at the air base. The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that the strike did not affect nuclear facilities in the province. This was also confirmed by the IAEA from the social network X.

The Guardian also reported that Iran closed its airspace after the attack. At eight in the morning local time, some airports lifted restrictions.

According to CNN, US authorities were warned about the planned strike, but did not support it. According to the TV channel, US President Joe Biden called on Israel for restraint and said that the US will not participate in any offensive operations against Iran.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian told CNN that an Israeli retaliatory strike could lead to an escalation of the conflict: “If the Israeli regime again shows aggression and takes action against Iranian interests, the next response from our side will be immediate and at the maximum level.”

Reports of an impending Israeli attack appeared on April 16. Then The Washington Post wrote that Israel intended only to “send a signal” to Iran, but not to carry out a large-scale strike. Among the possible attack options, the publication named a strike on a facility in Tehran or a cyber attack.

Iran's attack on Israel occurred on the night of April 14. Iran has fired more than 300 drones and missiles, most of which were shot down outside Israel. The Iranian Foreign Ministry called this strike a response to the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria, which occurred on April 1.
