Media: Ramzan Kadyrov is terminally ill

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has been suffering from pancreatic necrosis (necrosis of the pancreas) for several years - this is a disease with a high mortality rate that is difficult to treat, Novaya Gazeta Europe found out .

According to the publication, Kadyrov was first diagnosed with this diagnosis in January 2019. Then he went on leave due to “temporary incapacity”, and his duties were performed by the chairman of the Chechen government, Muslim Khuchiev. Kadyrov himself then claimed that he caught a cold in the mountains. “My body is strong, I only had IVs for two days,” he wrote.

In the fall of the same year, Kadyrov missed a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, after which rumors about his state of health spread online.

In the same year, Kadyrov lost a lot of weight, which is the first symptom of actively developing pancreatic necrosis, writes Novaya-Europa. Since then, according to the publication, he undergoes regular procedures at least twice a year at the Central Clinical Hospital of the Presidential Administration.

In January 2020, Kadyrov once again took leave due to “temporary incapacity for work.” According to the official version, he had “minor health problems,” which were treated in Moscow with a “course of IV drips.” In the summer of the same year, the head of Chechnya contracted coronavirus and began to have problems with the endocrine system.

In September 2022, Kadyrov underwent an MRI of the brain, a source from the Central Clinical Hospital of the Presidential Administration told the publication. “The former leader will no longer be there, the [new] disease will seriously affect [him]. Even if he recovers now, he will be neither alive nor dead...”, a newspaper source close to Kadyrov’s ally, deputy Adam Delimkhanov, commented on the results of the examination.

To stop the spread of rumors about Kadyrov's fatal illness, his entourage and federal officials launched a PR campaign, in which even Vladimir Putin took part. Over the course of a year, he met with Kadyrov, as well as his eldest son, four times.

In addition, in order to distract the public from Kadyrov’s health condition, federal PR specialists, in agreement with the presidential administration, advised the head of Chechnya to publish a video of his son Adam beating Nikita Zhuravel, who was convicted of burning the Koran. After this, a long series of awards began for the son of the head of Chechnya with various titles and orders.

Now Kadyrov’s health has begun to rapidly deteriorate, claims New Europe. “As a result of kidney failure and fluid stagnation in the lungs (consequences of the underlying disease), Kadyrov increased in size by one and a half times. The shape of his abdomen acquired all the signs of pancreatogenic ascites, he developed terrible shortness of breath, he began to speak with difficulty, walk slowly, and dress too warmly for the Chechen climate,” the publication notes.

In the Kremlin, according to the newspaper, they are not only aware of Kadyrov’s condition, but since September last year they have been developing a scenario in the event of a “forced change of power in Chechnya.”
