The authorities of St. Petersburg plan to ban the publication of information about the consequences of drone attacks

In St. Petersburg, the authorities want to introduce a ban on the dissemination of information about the consequences of drone strikes in the city. The corresponding draft resolution of Governor Alexander Beglov was published on the administration’s website.

According to the text of the resolution, the ban on “distribution and publication <…> of any information, including photos and video materials, about the consequences of the use of unmanned aerial, underwater and surface vessels and devices” will last at least until December 16.

In addition, it will be prohibited to disseminate information that could reveal the locations of “the location of the Ministry of Defense forces, communications system structures, security systems for fuel and energy complex facilities, industry, bridges and port areas.”

The project is currently undergoing an anti-corruption examination, which began today and will last until May 5. The draft resolution does not say what kind of punishment will be provided within the framework of liability for non-compliance with the ban.

Previously, the authorities of the Leningrad region introduced a similar ban on posting photos and videos about the consequences of drone attacks. According to the text of the document, the restriction does not apply to information about the consequences of attacks from local authorities - in particular, from the head of the operational headquarters of the Leningrad region and the governor of the region. Similar restrictions also apply in the Kursk region.
