After reports of a fatal illness, Kadyrov posted a video from the gym and from a meeting

After media reports appeared about Ramzan Kadyrov’s fatal illness, the head of Chechnya published two videos with his participation. At one of them he holds a meeting, at the other he trains in the gym.

The first was posted on Kadyrov’s telegram channel on April 22, a few hours after the publication of Novaya Gazeta Europe’s investigation into the state of health of the head of Chechnya. The footage shows Kadyrov sitting at the head of a table with Chechen officials and discussing the region's participation in the war in Ukraine. According to the Agency's calculations, in this video Kadyrov is shown in close-up for a total of about 40 seconds, but the camera never lingers on his face, and he himself sits in one position.

Later that same day, a video from the gym was published on Kadyrov’s account on the social network VKontakte. “The busy day ended with training and positivity. Physical activity not only improves your body, but also your mood. Evening classes are a great way to relax and recharge your batteries,” the caption reads.

In the video, which lasts about one and a half minutes, the head of Chechnya, dressed in a tracksuit, warms up, presses the barbell from his chest several times and does exercises on the machines. Several other people are training with him, one of whom Kadyrov is fighting.

On April 22, Novaya Gazeta Europe published an investigation into Kadyrov’s health. In it, the authors reported that the head of Chechnya has been suffering from pancreatic necrosis since 2019, a disease whose mortality rate is estimated at 80%. According to the publication, in the spring of 2022, Kadyrov’s health began to “rapidly deteriorate” - his kidneys began to fail, and due to stagnation of fluid in the lungs, shortness of breath appeared. Kadyrov began to “speak with difficulty, walk slowly, and dress too warmly for the Chechen climate,” the newspaper wrote.

At the same time, the publication claimed that the Russian authorities launched a special “PR campaign” to convince the audience that everything is fine with Kadyrov. At the same time, the newspaper writes , the Kremlin is looking for a replacement for Kadyrov as head of Chechnya.
