Britain announced the largest aid package for Ukraine since the beginning of the war

The UK will provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid worth 500 million pounds sterling (about $620 million). It will be the largest since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. This is stated in a statement by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, published on the UK government website.

According to Sunak, the new aid package will include, among other things, 400 vehicles, 60 boats, about four million rounds of small arms ammunition, as well as more than 1,600 strike and air defense missiles. Kyiv will also receive Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles, the flight range of which is about 250 kilometers.

In his statement, Sunak stressed that Ukraine's support is "vital for the security of all of Europe." According to him, if Russia wins the war with Ukraine, it “will not stop at the Polish border.” “The United Kingdom will always play its role at the forefront of European security, protecting our national interests and supporting our NATO allies,” Sunak said.

On April 21, the military assistance program to Ukraine, after six months of discussion, was adopted by the US House of Representatives, the majority of which belongs to Republicans. The bill is expected to be approved by the Senate on April 23 and then signed by US President Joe Biden.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who previously warned that without timely support from allies his country would lose the war, has since said that Kyiv now has a chance to seize the initiative at the front.

In turn, Bloomberg, citing military experts and analysts,wrote that the military assistance promised by the United States will give the Ukrainian army a break, but will not allow it to turn the tide of the war with Russia.
