A case for justifying terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) was brought against Tatar activist Rafis Kashapov. This was reported by the telegram channel “NO to extremism!” associated with the security forces.
The reason for the persecution was one of Kashapov’s interviews, in which he discussed the attack on the Alabuga SEZ in Tatarstan. In it, he also called such attacks correct.
Rafis Kashapov is the chairman of the Tatar Community Center and co-founder of Free Idel-Ural. In January 2023, the Ministry of Justice added Kashapov to the register of “foreign agents” due to the fact that he lives outside of Russia and speaks out against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
- On the morning of April 2, two Ukrainian drones attacked a hostel in the Alabuga special economic zone in Tatarstan. The damaged building is located 300-400 meters from the workshop for assembling Iranian kamikaze drones, which the Russian Federation is using to attack Ukraine.
