The Basmanny Court of Moscow granted the investigation's request and sent journalist Konstantin Gabov to a pre-trial detention center, the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction reported.
In a message from the press service, Gabov is presented as a producer of the news service of the Reuters news agency. At the same time, TASS calls him a former producer of Reuters. The Telegram channel “Caution, News” writes that in 2022 the journalist worked on the Belsat TV channel, and before that on the Mir and Moscow 24 TV channels.
Gabov is accused of participation in an “extremist community” (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). According to the court’s press service, Gabov took part in the preparation of photo and video materials for publication on the Navalny Live YouTube channel, which is used to publish content from the Anti-Corruption Foundation, declared an “extremist organization” in Russia.
At the time of publication of this note, Reuters did not comment on the arrest of Konstantin Gabov.
