How the mood of American voters forced Congress to support Ukraine

Two unpleasant actions for the Russian authorities have been committed in the last days by our “neighbors-maids”. The European parliament with a fantastic majority, almost unanimously, adopted a resolution that did not recognize our last electoral event as legal elections, and, accordingly, called on the EU countries and their allies not to recognize Putin with a legitimate president. Vladimir Vladimirovich himself, of course, spoke out in the sense that we saw these resolutions where it is known where - by the way, the only reaction in this situation in this situation. We all do this too when we are declared foreign agents, for example. And we don't care, we say. Although we do not care. But Putin also does not care. The mood was definitely spoiled.

The resolution does not have legal force, but, firstly, affects public opinion in the West and many European structures: tough and demonstrative steps addressed to Putin and its state become more likely. And secondly, and this is even more important, it reflects important processes of departure from Putin of his recently faithful and a hundred times with the giblets of the purchased allies (deputies from Marin Le Pen and the “alternatives for Germany” also supported the resolution)-it has become politically unsafe to support Putin. The European Parliament is not able to provide Ukraine with rockets, but to publicly give a slap in the face.

But the US Congress took an even more serious anti -Russian step when, after six months of stay in the shameful, unworthy of America, Stupor decided to finally allocate the promised help to Ukraine.

How much these sixty billions turned into a weapon will affect the course of the war, no one knows. Military experts speak out carefully, mainly in the sense that again it is not to be victory, but so that there is no defeat. Probably, they analyze where and with what chances not to be knocked out to fly a rocket, how much it will be possible to destroy drones and missiles flying to Ukraine, and so on. But there is also a psychological factor that can hardly translate into TNT equivalents.

The Ukrainian soldier, who in recent months thought - had every reason - that he was left alone with Putin, he saw now that this was not so. In addition, he sees that Europe began to behave harder. And this raises his fighting spirit. So, changes can be not only where such a long -awaited weapon will be involved, but also where not high technologies solve everything, but people - their resistance and faith in victory. But Russian soldiers and officers can come to similar conclusions - Ukrainians become stronger. And the Russian army and so with the motivation of the problem: they do not protect their land, they die on a stranger.

We will see all this soon. But that the new weapon will be a serious factor in the war, says the reaction of our authorities. Almost not commented. Only Peskov gave out the ingenious: this decision, they say, will make America even richer, and Ukraine will ruin even more, and at the front everything is so beautiful that no new weapon will change anything. This statement testifies, firstly, that they were not ready in the Kremlin, otherwise they would have come up with more convincing words. Unreasonableness is understandable: their experts tell them only what they want to hear, so they probably assured that the law would not pass. Yes, and they “worked”, probably, in the congress, and in advance to consider that your efforts and resources will not lead to anything, except that they would make you get nervous. And secondly, in the words of Peskov, something very similar to fright shows: it is literally like about sanctions at the beginning-we are only better from the sanctions, and they will completely collapse and die from the cold. About how everything is great at the front, although Russian troops move a little northwest of Avdeevka, this is from the series “Everything goes according to plan”. It seems to be at the top.

But the decision of the congress and how it was accepted is not only about Ukraine - it is about America. In recent years, this great democracy is in a fever. There are all the time events that until recently seemed impossible in principle. The assault on the Capitol and the refusal of the outgoing president to attend the inauguration of the new. The crisis on the Mexican border and anti -Semitic actions in Harvard.

Blocking the work of the congress with a small cohesion group of the extreme right and frank abuse of the speaker with their powers. Behind all this, the essential problems are the weakness and indecision of the elites,

Unreasonableness to protect those values ​​on which, in fact, Western civilization was formed, switching attention from the long -term problems of the country and the world to the nearest elections, the victory on which becomes the most important thing. Because of this, endless fluctuations, delay with making the necessary decisions, willingness to betray allies and unwillingness to see existential threats. The decline of Rome!

But - voted. And Trump, in which everything rested, suddenly said about the need to support Ukraine. And the speaker Johnson is trying on the role of Churchill. And the members of the Congress were suddenly imbued with the need to allocate this money. What happened? "Has the Lord awakened a fierce conscience?" It is unlikely. There is a much simpler explanation.

Although the problem of Ukraine has not become the main thing for American society, it switched to the periphery of attention, public opinion polls showed that most Americans were for help from Ukraine, and in case of defeat, very emotional accusations against those who blocked support are inevitable. And politicians cannot go against the clearly expressed will of the people in conditions of democracy, even seriously ill, experiencing no better times. They can deceive people, try to blow their heads, play on their low feelings - and they do all this. But when voters say that it is necessary to do this and not otherwise, politicians - left, right, liberals, nationalists - have to obey.

We were wearing from the fact that the opinion of the people means something. We believe more and more that everywhere the same thing is a mess, corruption, selfishness. But here we were presented evidence that democracy differs from the dictatorship - the United States allocated assistance to Ukraine. Not because politics wanted it, but because the American people decided so.
