Ukraine did not turn to Poland regarding the return of Ukrainian male recruiting age - ambassador

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasily Zvarych said that the official request to Poland did not go to the return of Ukrainian male recruitment. This was reported by the Polish television channel TVN 24 .

According to Zvarych, Ukraine wants to check how many Ukrainian men are in Poland. The data regarding the number of Ukrainian male recruiting in Poland is currently "very approximate."

"According to our estimates, only in Poland there are tens of thousands of people's age -old people. But we will be sure when this law will implement, and when everyone can confirm their data at the collection points," the ambassador said.

Also, according to him, men, in order to become a military record, do not have to return to Ukraine.

"We temporarily suspended the reception of new statements from male recruitment in order to prepare technically. When the new law comes into force, everyone will know how to update their data. There is an idea that this could be done remotely," Zvarych said.

Earlier, the Minister of Defense Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh said that Poland is ready to help Ukraine return male recruitment, so that they " fulfill its civil duty."

According to the Eurostat, as of January 2024, about 4.3 million Ukrainians lived in the EU countries, of which 860 thousand were adult men.

Last year, the Polish authorities announced their readiness to send citizens who fled from mobilization to Ukraine.

This week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine ordered the heads of all diplomatic institutions of Ukraine to temporarily suspend almost all consular actions against citizens of Ukraine of draft age. The ban will be valid until clarification of the provisions of the law on strengthening mobilization.

The order was signed by the head of the department Dmitry Kuleboy. He explained to this war in Ukraine, and staying abroad "does not free the citizen from duties to the homeland."
