UK Ministry of Defense: Since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost 450 thousand people killed and wounded

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has lost about 450 thousand military personnel and more than ten thousand armored vehicles killed and wounded.

This assessment was given by British Defense Minister Leo Docherty in response to a request from British Parliament member John Healey about the losses of the regular Russian army and Russian PMCs in Ukraine. The answer was published on the website of the British Parliament, and the UK Defense Journal drew attention to it.

According to the minister, in addition to the dead and wounded, tens of thousands of Russian military personnel have deserted from the front since the beginning of the conflict. The number of deaths among mercenaries of Russian private military companies is unknown.

Docherty added that, according to the British Defense Department, since the start of a full-scale war, Russia has lost more than ten thousand armored vehicles, including almost three thousand tanks, 109 aircraft, 136 helicopters, 346 unmanned aerial vehicles, 23 naval vessels of all classes and more than 1,500 artillery systems.

The assessment of the UK Ministry of Defense approximately corresponds to the data disseminated by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to department estimates as of April 28, Russian losses since the beginning of the war in Ukraine amounted to 466,150 people. The Russian Ministry of Defense last reported on its losses in the war in September 2022. At that time, 5,937 deaths were reported.
