According to the Associated Press, he was detained on Friday, and the next day the court sent him to a pre -trial detention center. Karelina is accused of cooperation with the Corruption Fund (FBK), which in Russia is declared an “extremist organization”. What article is charged with a journalist and in which city the region he is located is still unknown.
The Associated Press had commented on the arrest of Karelin: the agency said that they were “very concerned” to what had happened and “looking for additional information”.
On the eve of April 27, the Basmanny Court in Moscow sent a journalist Konstantin Gabov to the pre-trial detention center, whom the press service of the court and the TASS agency is called the Reuters producer. It is known that in 2022, Gabov worked on the Belarusian television channel Belsat, before that on the Russian Mir and Moscow 24.

Gabova is accused of participating in the “extremist community” ( part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code , involves punishment from two to six years in prison)- for creating photo and video materials for the Utuub-channel “Navalny Live”, which uses to publish the FBK content. The arrests of Russian journalists on charges of cooperation of the FBK began in the spring of 2024. On March 27, Olga Komleva from Ufa was detained by the RusNews journalist. Prior to the announcement of the FBK “extremist organization” she was a volunteer at the local headquarters of Navalny.
At first, the police told Komleva that they would interrogate her as a witness in the FBK case - while she was recommended to take her first necessity with her. But already in the Investigative Committee, she was charged under Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code. Despite the fact that the journalist of the second type of diabetes, in which the detention is contraindicated, until May 27, she will be in jail.
Also in March in Moscow, the journalist and photographer of the Sotavision publication Antonin Favorskaya, who attended almost all meetings on the claims of Alexei Navalny in Vladimir and Kovrov and shot his last video with his participation the day before the death of the Policy on February 16 in the colony of the Harp village in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Autonomous Office, was detained. After Navalny’s funeral in Moscow, Favorskaya visited the Borisov cemetery almost daily, where she took photos and videos of a politician taking place at the grave.
On March 17, Favorskaya was detained in a cafe, where she went after visiting the grave of Navalny. The police claim that the journalist refused to present documents, "defiantly waved her hands, grabbed the uniform uniform, tried to run away." Since March 18, she was serving ten days of administrative arrest in the Sakharovo special reception. At the exit from it on March 28, she was again detained, and with her - the photographer who met her, Alexander Astakhov and journalist Anastasia Musatova. Now they are taking place in the Faborskaya case as witnesses. In addition, on March 28, at the Favorskaya House, her colleague was detained by Ekaterina Anikievich from Sotavision and journalist Konstantin Zharova from RusNews . Zharova, according to Rusnews, was beaten. In the police department, he was charged with disobedience to the police. Later, both journalists were taken away from the department to the ambulance, the protocols did not draw up on them.
The case against Taborskaya is investigated under the same article on “Participation in the extremist community” (part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). The investigation accuses the journalist of placing some posts on the FBK platforms. The press service of the Moscow courts stated that Tabor was accused of collecting material, manufacturing and installing videos and publications for the FBK. Until May 28, the journalist will be in jail.
