The FSB Public Relations Center reported the destruction of a “military intelligence agent” of Ukraine. He allegedly planned several terrorist attacks. The VChK-OGPU channel claims that the murdered man was suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.
The FSB said that the “saboteur” arrived in Moscow from Lithuania in March 2024. Reportedly, security forces tried to detain him in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region. According to the intelligence service, the man was going to take the weapon from the cache and carry out a terrorist attack “at the fuel terminal in the Tosnensky district.”
“During the arrest, he offered armed resistance using firearms and was neutralized,” the FSB said in a statement.
In April, they tried to detain a “saboteur” in the Moscow region, reportedly also near a cache of weapons. Then he managed to escape. In the car he abandoned they found a Stechkin pistol, a hunting rifle, grenades, bomb components, documents and a mobile phone, the FSB says. Security forces said that they seized explosives, ammunition and a card from the Lithuanian branch of the Swedish SwedBank from the garage and apartment he rented.
In addition, the FSB claims that having studied the correspondence of the murdered man “with his curator”, it turned out that he was trained in mine explosives and shooting in Lithuania. The report also states that the murdered man, in particular, planned to set fire to a cinema in Riga and terrorist attacks in churches in the Baltic countries.
The Cheka-OGPU, citing unnamed sources, writes that the murdered man’s name is Nikolai Surnov. According to the telegram channel, the FSB suspected him of involvement in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. Telegram channels Mash and Baza also reported this.
Surnov’s father, retired lieutenant colonel of the strategic missile forces Sergei Surnov, told the Cheka-OGPU on April 10, the day the security forces tried to detain the “saboteur” in the Moscow region, that his son was “far from politics and is engaged in car repairs.”
The channel also published a photo of the murdered man, doubting that he resisted the security forces. “Allegedly he fired back and there is even a corresponding photo. However, sources note that in the photo the gun lies unnaturally near Surnov’s hand, as if it had been placed for shooting,” the report says .
