In Novoaleksandrovsk, police and FSB officers detained three local residents who, on May 2, burned the “New Testament” on a barbecue in the courtyard of a house, reported the department of the Investigative Committee for the Stavropol Territory.
The young people are suspected in a criminal case of insulting the religious feelings of believers and hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code and Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, they burned the Bible “for reasons of religious hatred” and filmed it on video, which they published in the messenger.
The recording, filmed by residents of Novoaleksandrovsk, was published by the Stavropol “Notebook”. In the video one can hear the remarks of various young people: “In the name of the son and the holy spirit”, “You can’t do this, what are you doing?”, “Shame on God!”, “Is there an old testament?”, “No, it won’t burn, that’s divine book." One of them puts a book on the fire.
The Investigative Committee said that “the issue” of choosing a preventive measure for the detainee will be resolved “in the near future.”
