There will be Navalny Street in Paris

A street named after Alexei Navalny (Lʼavenue Alexeï Navalny) will appear in Paris. The council of the 16th district of the city voted unanimously for the corresponding decision.

Chantemes Avenue, next to which the Russian Embassy is located, will be named after Navalny. An art object will also be installed at the corner of the avenue and Lan Boulevard in memory of Navalny.

The initiative was taken by Senator Francis Spiner, who until 2023 was the mayor of the 16th district.

• Navalny's supporters have previously repeatedly launched petitions proposing to rename streets in European cities in his honor - in particular, in The Hague, Berlin, and Vilnius. Some Western politicians also called for this. So far, none of these ideas have been implemented.
• Alexei Navalny died in a colony in the village of Kharp on February 16. The official death report stated that it was due to natural causes. The politician's associates consider his death a murder.
