In St. Petersburg in the labor market, the number of co-workers-labor migrants sharply decreased. In April, the number of applicants from Tajikistan fell by 60 percent, by 40 percent from Uzbekistan. According to him, the most acute shortage of applicants is felt in the areas of retail, industry and construction. Among the immigrants from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were most often searched for cashiers, couriers, consultants and warehouse workers.

The outflow of labor migrants from St. Petersburg was recorded at the beginning of the year, but after the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow, he acquired a mass character. Most of the arrested suspects in the case are citizens of Tajikistan.

At the end of April, the Tajikistan Foreign Ministry recommended that his citizens refrain from traveling to Russia. The application was made against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the pressure of Russian state structures on migrants from Central Asia after a terrorist attack in Crocus. In different regions of the country, law enforcement officers began to carry out raids in places of residence and work of foreign workers. In some cases, migrants were registered with the military registration and enlistment office.

In 2023, according to the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan, 652 thousand people left for Russia. They are the second largest group of labor migrants in the country after citizens of Uzbekistan. About a third of the country's GDP is formed by cash translations of workers from abroad, mainly from Russia.
