In the city of Pechora in the Komi Republic, part of an emergency five-story residential building at the address: Pechora Avenue, 69, collapsed, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Rescuers evacuated 14 people, including five children. Residents are sent to two temporary accommodation centers located in a boarding school and an orphanage.
Komi Governor Vladimir Uyba said he was flying to Pechora and confirmed that the house was declared unsafe.
Komiinform, with reference to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, writes that the collapsed part of the brick house was non-residential. In February 2023, the Pechora Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office, which carried out an inspection after media reports, found that it was impossible to make major repairs to the house, since it had “signs of disrepair, including load-bearing structures and ceilings.” As follows from the prosecutor's office, the administration of the municipal district was unable to appoint a management organization for this house - like almost two hundred others.
