Dutch Eurovision contestant Joost Klein was removed from the final of the competition due to “inappropriate behavior”

Dutch Eurovision contestant Joost Klein has been suspended from the final of the competition due to a complaint of "inappropriate behavior", the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said .

The complaint was filed by a woman from the production crew due to an "incident" that occurred after Klein's performance in the semi-finals on May 9. The essence of the “incident” is not disclosed.

In a statement, the EBU said the union has a zero-tolerance policy for “inappropriate behavior” at the event and is committed to providing a safe and secure working environment for all involved. “In this regard, Joost Klein’s behavior towards a team member is considered a violation of the rules of the competition,” the EBU said.

The complaint is being investigated by the Swedish police (the competition takes place in Malmö). While the review is ongoing, the EBU said, it is “inappropriate for Klein to continue to participate in the competition.” He also missed the rehearsal, which took place on the evening of May 10.

Klein's song "Europapa" was considered one of the contenders to win the competition, and his track had already taken first place in the Dutch singles charts. Now representatives from 25 countries remain in the Eurovision final.
