The rapper Nemo from Switzerland won the final of the Eurovision music competition with the song “The Code” , in which he sang about his non-binary identity, reports Deutsche Welle.
The second place was taken by the performer from Croatia Baby Lasagna with the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”, and the third place was taken by the Ukrainian duet Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil with the song “Teresa & Maria”.
Eurovision 2024 was not without scandals. On the eve of the final, the performer from the Netherlands Joost Klein, who, according to experts, was the favorite of the current competition, wasdisqualified .
The reason for Klein's removal was a complaint from a woman from the film crew. According to her, the singer made a threatening gesture to her when she filmed him without permission.
“Joost Klein's behavior towards a member of the team is considered a violation of the rules of the competition,” the European Broadcasting Union, which organizes Eurovision, said in a statement.
In turn, Israeli performer Eden Golan had to change the name of the song she performed at the competition. The composition was originally called October Rain. However, Eurovision organizers considered the song political after seeing references to the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023. As a result, it was renamed Hurricane.
The performance of the Israeli performer took place against the backdrop of massive pro-Palestinian protests and demands not to allow Israel to participate in the competition, to which its organizers did not listen.
