The Russian military occupied four more settlements in the Kharkov region of Ukraine. This is stated in the latest report from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Units of the North group of forces advanced into the depths of the enemy’s defenses and liberated the settlements of Gatishche, Krasnoye, Morokhovets and Oleynikovo in the Kharkov region,” the department says.
In turn, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky reported on fierce battles continuing along the border with Russia in the Kharkov region. According to him, all attempts by the Russian military to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were stopped. “The situation is difficult, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are doing everything to hold defense lines and positions and inflict damage on the enemy,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
“Heat battles continue in the Kupyansky, Seversky, Limansky, Pokrovsky directions, the situation is changing very dynamically. In some areas the enemy has partial success, in others the Defense Forces are displacing the enemy and improving their tactical position,” Syrsky said, without naming specific settlements.
On May 10, it became known about the start of a new offensive by the Russian army in the Kharkov region. This was reported , in particular, by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The evacuation of civilians was reported, which was initiated by the Ukrainian authorities. Since then, the Russian Ministry of Defense has reported the capture of several settlements in the region.
Later, reports appeared about battles within the city of Volchansk, located 50 kilometers from Kharkov. Russian telegram channels claimed that the Russian military had already entered the city, the Ukrainian authorities denied this, but on May 12, reports of street fighting in Volchansk to the Ukrainian media were confirmed by military and police officers stationed there.
