Messages about the collapse of the entrance appeared shortly after the second missile alarm was announced in a city near the border with Ukraine. The governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the entrance fell "as a result of a direct hit of the projectile." The Russian Ministry of Defense subsequently stated that the Ukrainian military fired at Belgorod using the Tactical Missile Complex "Point-U" and MLRS, and the rockets and shells were shot down, but "fragments of one of the downed missiles were damaged by the residential building in the city of Belgorod."

Independent researchers drew attention to the fact that the facade of the house on Shchorsa Street, in which the entrance collapsed, judging by the satellite pictures, is located approximately parallel to the border between Russia and Ukraine. Thus, the outer side of the house looks to the northeast, in the depths of the territory of Russia, and the internal courtyard of the house is towards Ukraine. The explosion, as writes , in particular, OSINT analyst Oliver Alexander, occurred on the outer "Russian" side of the house. Commenting on the video with the consequences of destruction, the expert drew attention to significant damage to garages and cars on the external ("Russian") side of the destroyed house.

They also drew attention to the fact that the “War with Fakes” telegram channel changed the position of the entrance and the angle of shooting on its schemes, trying to explain the direction of the explosion-from the initially correct to the wrong, but beneficial for the version with the shelling from Ukraine.

The publication at the same time adds that all of the above in itself does not refute the version of the Russian Ministry of Defense, that the explosion occurred when a part of the Ukrainian Malace Ut. "Probably, the Belgorod air defense" unsuccessfully "knocked down the Ukrainian missile, the high -explosive part of which, capable of bringing appropriate destruction, fell directly into the house by inertia," the Russian publication "Pepel" suggests.
