On May 15, the Petrozavodsk City Court fined journalist Sergei Markelov 31,000 rubles under the article on failure to submit "foreign agent" reports (Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by the Telegram channel "From Karelia with freedom".
Markelov was added to the register of "foreign agents" on December 28, 2020: that day, individuals were added to the list for the first time. According to the court's card index , the journalist has since been fined several times for failing to comply with his "foreign agent" duties.
