On the night of May 19, the Ukrainian military struck the small missile ship Cyclone Project 22800 during an attack on the annexed Sevastopol, the APU General Staff says. Whether the ship was destroyed or only damaged, the department does not specify.
On the eve of May 20, the probable destruction of the ship was stated by the speaker of the naval forces of Ukraine Dmitry Pletenchuk. According to him, confirmation of this information will mean that there were not a single surface carrier of cruise missiles left in the Crimea - all the others were transferred to Novorossiysk.
The Russian anonymous telegram channel “Spy Dossier” wrote that on the “cyclone” they hit two ATACMS missiles. Later, Astra sources in the emergency services of Sevastopol reported that three missiles were in the pier, which had a small rocket ship. According to the publication, as a result of the attack, Cyclone drowned. The Ukrainian channel “Crimean Wind” also wrote about the likely hit the ship with reference to satellite pictures.
On the morning of May 19, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that during the night the air defense funds shot nine ATACMS missiles over the Crimea and one drone. The governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev stated that the city was falling under a missile attack, as a result of which several houses were damaged.
The Ukrainian Navy also claimed that during an attack on Sevastopol, the minesweep of the project 266th Kovroovets was destroyed. The Russian authorities did not comment on the statements of the Ukrainian military.
